Overview

English for University Study and Pre-Sessional English will help you prepare for your University of East Anglia degree course.

If you successfully complete a Pre-Sessional English or English for University Study course at INTO UEA and meet the progression requirements for entry to your academic programme of study, it is not necessary to undertake an additional IELTS or TOEFL test.

Furthermore for students studying our 8, 6 and 4 week Pre-Sessional programmes, and who are holding an offer for a degree programme at the University of East Anglia, it may be possible to obtain a Certificate of Acceptance for Studies that combines both the Pre-sessional English period of study and the degree programme.

Please see the INTO UEA website for details of how long you would need to study English with us and for information on how to apply.

There are also long term General English programmes for those who wish to develop their English language skills for work, leisure, travel or general interest.

Should you wish, it is also possible to sit an IELTS exam at the INTO UEA Centre.

Please visit the INTO UEA IELTS website for more details.

Important Information

The University makes every effort to ensure that the information within its course finder is accurate and up-to-date. Occasionally it can be necessary to make changes, for example to courses, facilities or fees. Examples of such reasons might include a change of law or regulatory requirements, industrial action, lack of demand, departure of key personnel, change in government policy, or withdrawal/reduction of funding. Changes may for example consist of variations to the content and method of delivery of programmes, courses and other services, to discontinue programmes, courses and other services and to merge or combine programmes or courses. The University will endeavour to keep such changes to a minimum, informing students and will also keep prospective students informed appropriately by updating our course information within our course finder.

In light of the current situation relating to Covid-19, we are in the process of reviewing all courses for 2020 entry with adjustments to course information being made where required to ensure the safety of students and staff, and to meet government guidance.
