What is Clearing?

The Clearing process has traditionally been for students who don’t make the grades they need to find another university on Results Day. However it is increasingly being used as an opportunity for students to re-think their application decision or even trade up based on a better than expected grade performance. And this year more than ever, it offers a chance to move on from a tough time and find your future.

Clearing is for you if:

  • you’re applying after 30 June
  • you didn’t receive any offers (or none you wanted to accept)
  • you didn’t meet the conditions of your offers
  • you’ve changed your mind about a course or university (and have declined your firm place using the ‘decline my place’ button in UCAS Track)

If you find yourself in any of these situations, don’t panic! Lots of people are in the same boat every year and Clearing is your chance to talk to us about a place on the course you want.

How Does Clearing Work?

If you know your results you can enter the Clearing process from 6th July, but the majority of activity happens on and just after A-Level Results Day (13 August). From the 13th of August call us on 0300 300 7994 or speak to us on Live Chat to discuss your options and see whether you can be considered for a place.

On the day, check availability of courses using the dropdown menu at the top of this page, then contact us to discuss whether you can be considered for a place. If we make you a written offer, you then need to confirm it by clicking on ‘Add Clearing choice’ online on UCAS Track. If your Clearing application is accepted UEA will confirm your place in Track…congratulations, you’re coming to UEA!
