A level results are released on the 16 August, is there anything I should be doing to prepare for Results Day?
It is helpful to make sure you are available on results day. Try to make sure that you have access to UCAS via the internet and your phone is at the ready. Check how you are going to get your exam results and what time you will get them. Also, it is worth making a note of your GCSE subjects and grades, as sometimes courses require a particular grade at GCSE in addition to you A level results.
Make sure you have your UCAS Personal ID, the 10-digit number you receive when you register with UCAS, as this is something you will always be asked for if you ring us up.

I've done better than I expected and want to apply for a course at UEA, what do I do?
Whether you are in Clearing or Adjustment you might be curious about courses with higher entry requirements. At UEA we are interested in talking to you, so that we can help you find the best course to study. It is always worth ringing us; it's a great opportunity to see if you can gain entry to a course that you may have originally wanted to pursue but didn't think you could achieve the necessary grades.
What is the ‘Adjustment Period'?
Adjustment allows you to see if you can get on to another course with higher entry requirements than the course you have been confirmed on. If you've met and exceeded your conditions you will still hold your original confirmed place, but you can also call us to see whether we have spaces to accept you through Adjustment. Once you enter Adjustment you have approx. 5 days to choose another course, if you don't you will remain on your original confirmed course. On UCAS Track you will see how long you are in Adjustment for if you choose this option.
If I'm applying through Clearing, can I attend an Open Day before I begin my course?
Will you accept university applications for deferred entry?
We will be able to discuss offering a deferred place with individuals on a case by case basis.
I've accepted a Clearing course offer at UEA, what next?
Once you have referred yourself to us through UCAS Track (you can do this on 16 August) we will send you a welcome email with details of the new student web pages. This will be followed up by another email which allows you to register in advance with us. The advanced registration is important because it allows you to set up your UEA Email account and finalise your financial arrangements, amongst other tasks. All of our correspondence is via email so it is important to check your email account as often as possible.
Will I be able to live in University Accommodation?
We endeavour to accommodate our Clearing applicants. If we offer you a place in Clearing we will send you an email confirming our offer. Within the email we will confirm if we can guarantee you accommodation and ask you to complete an Accommodation Preference Form. I’ve decided I’d rather take my insurance choice than my firm, can I swap them?
Unfortunately, you cannot – you will have to go through Clearing. If UEA is your insurance choice, then please give us a call and we will see if we can accept you or not.
I’ve only narrowly missed the requirements needed for my course, is there a chance I could still be accepted through Clearing?
Whatever your situation, it is always worth giving us a call. If we haven’t accepted you, it may mean the course is full, but that’s not to say that the students who were accepted haven’t chosen to decline our offer. Basically, there’s every chance there could be a space, so please contact us to check!
I can’t get through to you! What should I do?
Our phone line will be extremely busy on Results Day, so please be patient and keep trying. You will get through to us eventually on the 0300 300 7994 number.
How long does the Clearing period last?
Clearing is open from July – September every year. Only those who received no offers will be able to access it before Results Day, though.
